Dans le but de renforcer son secteur informatique (technologie de l'information), l'Ouzbékistan construira deux centres de données « verts » dans sa capitale, Tachkent, et un autre dans la région de Boukhara, dont un dans la zone du « Nouveau Tachkent », un nouveau district urbain. qui devrait accueillir 500 000 personnes et s'étendre sur 200 km2.

Dans le cadre de la stratégie du pays « Ouzbékistan – 2030 », la construction est le fruit d’une collaboration avec DATAVOLT, basée en Arabie Saoudite, une entreprise technologique spécialisée dans le développement et l’exploitation de centres de données.

Le projet est prévu en trois phases, la première ayant une capacité de 10 MW.

La première phase de construction devrait coûter 150 millions de dollars américains, DATAVOLT prévoyant d'allouer jusqu'à 5 milliards de dollars à des projets basés en Ouzbékistan d'ici 2030.

La deuxième phase comprendra la construction d'une installation de 250 MW à New Tachkent.

La troisième phase vise à augmenter la capacité jusqu'à 250 MW à Boukhara, située à environ 600 km au sud-ouest de Tachkent.

M. Sherzod Shermatov, ministre ouzbek des technologies numériques, a déclaré : « Cette collaboration offre d'excellentes perspectives d'investissement pour les entreprises saoudiennes et contribuera à attirer des entreprises technologiques internationales en Ouzbékistan, améliorant ainsi notre position stratégique et notre climat des affaires. »

In an effort to strengthen its IT (information technology) sector, Uzbekistan will build two ‘green’ data centres in its capital, Tashkent, and another in the Bukhara region, including one build in the ‘New Tashkent’ area – a novel urban district that is planned to accommodate 500,000 people and span 200km2.

Part of the country’s ‘Uzbekistan – 2030’ strategy, the construction is a collaboration with Saudi Arabia-based DATAVOLT, a technology company that specialises in developing and operating data centres.

The scheme is planned across three phases, with the first featuring a 10MW capacity.

The first phase of the build is expected to cost US$150 million, with DATAVOLT planning to allocate up to $5 billion in Uzbekistan-based projects by 2030.

The second phase will include construction of a 250MW facility in New Tashkent.

The third phase seeks to expand the capacity up to 250MW in Bukhara, located about 600km southwest of Tashkent.

Mr Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbekistan’s minister of digital technologies, said, “This collaboration offers great investment prospects for Saudi companies and will help attract international technology firms to Uzbekistan, enhancing our strategic position and business climate.”
