Skanska commence à travailler sur un projet pour la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA 2026

Skanska a lancé un projet de rénovation de la cuvette inférieure du stade MetLife à East Rutherford, dans le New Jersey, aux États-Unis, en vue de la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA 2026.

Le projet implique la démolition de quatre coins de sièges préfabriqués préexistants dans tout le stade et l'installation d'un nouveau système de sièges modulaires en acier composite.

Le projet comprend également des ajustements mécaniques, électriques, audiovisuels et de plomberie. En outre, le projet implique la suppression de 1 740 sièges permanents afin d’élargir les dimensions du terrain pour les matches de la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA.

"Nous sommes ravis de continuer à développer notre partenariat de longue date avec MetLife Stadium et de jouer un rôle essentiel pour garantir que le stade soit bien équipé pour accueillir la prochaine Coupe du Monde de la FIFA", a déclaré Sean Szatkowski, vice-président exécutif et directeur général de Bâtiment Skanska États-Unis.

« Après avoir commencé nos premiers travaux au MetLife Stadium en 2010, ce dernier projet pose le défi unique et passionnant de procéder aux ajustements nécessaires pour répondre aux exigences de la FIFA. Et nous savons maintenant que cela inclura l’honneur d’aider à préparer le stade pour accueillir la finale de la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA.

Skanska ajoute que les modifications apportées au stade et aux sièges permettront d'agrandir le terrain de jeu pour répondre aux exigences de taille de la FIFA, de sorte que le stade puisse accueillir huit matchs tout au long du tournoi, y compris la finale.

Afin de garantir une perturbation minimale de l'activité du stade existant et des horaires des équipes, Skanska indique que la construction se déroulera en deux phases. La phase I a commencé en janvier de cette année et devrait s'achever d'ici mai 2024. La phase II débutera en janvier 2025 et devrait s'achever d'ici mai 2025.

Skanska begins work on project for FIFA World Cup 2026

Skanska has started a project to renovate the lower bowl of the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, US, in preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The project involves the demolition of four corners of pre-existing precast seating throughout the stadium and the installation of a new modular steel composite seating system.

The project also encompasses mechanical, electrical, audiovisual, and plumbing adjustments. Additionally, the project involves the removal of 1,740 permanent seats to expand the field’s dimensions for FIFA World Cup matches.

“We are thrilled to continue building upon our long-standing partnership with MetLife Stadium and to play an integral role in ensuring the stadium is well-equipped to host the upcoming FIFA World Cup,” said Sean Szatkowski, executive vice president and general manager at Skanska USA Building.

“Having begun our initial work at MetLife Stadium in 2010, this latest undertaking poses the unique and exciting challenge of making the necessary adjustments needed to meet FIFA requirements. And we now know, this will include the honor of helping prepare the stadium to host the FIFA World Cup Final.”

Skanska adds that the stadium and seating modifications will make the playing field bigger to meet the necessary FIFA size requirements, so the stadium can host eight games throughout the tournament, including the final.

To ensure minimal disruption to the existing stadium activity and team schedules, Skanska says that the construction will be carried out in two phases. Phase I began in January of this year and is expected to be completed by May 2024. Phase II will commence in January 2025 and is projected to be completed by May 2025.

In 2010, Skanska completed the construction of the 2.2-million-square-foot MetLife Stadium, which was the first facility built to accommodate two National Football League (NFL) teams, the New York Football Giants and New York Jets.

Skanska is een project gestart om de onderste kom van het MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, VS, te renoveren ter voorbereiding op het FIFA Wereldkampioenschap voetbal 2026.

Het project omvat de sloop van vier hoeken van reeds bestaande geprefabriceerde zitplaatsen in het hele stadion en de installatie van een nieuw modulair zitsysteem van staalcomposiet.

Het project omvat ook mechanische, elektrische, audiovisuele en sanitaire aanpassingen. Bovendien omvat het project de verwijdering van 1.740 permanente zitplaatsen om de afmetingen van het veld voor FIFA Wereldbeker-wedstrijden uit te breiden.
