JCB va investir 500 millions de reais (un peu moins de 100 millions de dollars) dans la modernisation et l'expansion de ses opérations en Amérique latine.

Le fabricant britannique d’équipements de construction a déclaré vouloir doubler la taille de ses opérations d’ici 2030.

La majorité des fonds, soit environ 360 millions de reais (52,9 millions de dollars), sera allouée à l'expansion des opérations, avec 150 millions de reais (27,9 millions de dollars) destinés à la modernisation de l'usine de Sorocaba, à São Paulo.

50 millions de reais supplémentaires (9,3 millions de dollars) seront investis dans le développement de nouveaux produits et la localisation de certains équipements, tandis que 50 millions de reais supplémentaires seront acheminés via le réseau de distributeurs.

Adriano Merigli, président de JCB Amérique latine, a déclaré que 2023 était la deuxième meilleure année pour JCB au Brésil, avec 3 500 machines vendues sur le marché intérieur.

Il a déclaré que l'entreprise prévoyait de croître de 10 % supplémentaires cette année, tandis que le secteur dans son ensemble devrait croître d'environ 5 %. JCB emploie actuellement 600 personnes en Amérique latine, mais espère créer 300 postes directs supplémentaires, ainsi que 700 emplois indirects.

"Plus tôt cette année, nous avons achevé un cycle d'investissement de 120 millions de reais qui a débuté en 2021. Nous entrons maintenant dans un nouveau cycle avec une phase de modernisation qui améliorera notre capacité et notre productivité", a déclaré Merigli.

JCB is to invest 500 million reais (just under US$100 million) on modernizing and expanding its Latin American operations.

The UK-based construction equipment manufacturer said it wanted to double the size of its operations by 2030.

The majority of the funds, around 360 million reais (US$52.9 million) will be allocated to expanding operations, with 150 million reais (US$27.9 million) earmarked for modernizing the factory in Sorocaba, São Paulo.

Another 50 million reais (US$9.3 million) will be invested in the development of new products and the localisation of some equipment, while another 50 million reais will be channeled through the distributor network.

Adriano Merigli, president of JCB Latin America, said that 2023 was the second-best year for JCB in Brazil, with 3,500 machines sold in the domestic market.

He said the company planned to grow by another 10% this year, while the sector overall is expected to grow by around 5%. He also expected growth in all sectors, with construction currently accounting for 40% of sales, agribusiness 25% and equipment rental companies 20%.

Part of the growth will come from the product portfolio and increasing market share in heavy machinery. Recent product launches include the 455ZX wheel loader, the Loadall 540-70 telehandler, the 220NXT excavator, the 35Z mini-excavator, and the 135 HD and 155HD skid steer loaders.

JCB currently employs 600 people in Latin America but expects add another 300 direct positions, along with another 700 indirect jobs.

“Earlier this year, we completed an investment cycle of 120 million reais that began in 2021. We are now entering a new cycle with a modernization phase that will enhance our capacity and productivity,” said Merigli.

JCB gaat 500 miljoen reais (iets minder dan 100 miljoen dollar) investeren in de modernisering en uitbreiding van zijn Latijns-Amerikaanse activiteiten.

De Britse fabrikant van bouwmachines zei dat het de omvang van zijn activiteiten tegen 2030 wil verdubbelen.

Het merendeel van de fondsen, ongeveer 360 miljoen reais (52,9 miljoen dollar), zal worden toegewezen aan uitbreiding van de activiteiten, terwijl 150 miljoen reais (27,9 miljoen dollar) bestemd is voor de modernisering van de fabriek in Sorocaba, São Paulo.

Een deel van de groei zal komen uit het productportfolio en het vergroten van het marktaandeel in zware machines. Recente productlanceringen zijn onder meer de 455ZX wiellader, de Loadall 540-70 verreiker, de 220NXT graafmachine, de 35Z minigraafmachine en de 135 HD en 155HD schrankladers.

JCB heeft momenteel 600 mensen in Latijns-Amerika in dienst, maar verwacht dat er nog eens 300 directe banen bijkomen, naast nog eens 700 indirecte banen.

“Eerder dit jaar voltooiden we een investeringscyclus van 120 miljoen reais die begon in 2021. We gaan nu een nieuwe cyclus in met een moderniseringsfase die onze capaciteit en productiviteit zal vergroten”, aldus Merigli.
