Le PK 135.002 TEC 7 H avec fly jib PJ150 E manipule facilement les radeaux de sauvetage, qui pèsent environ 500 kilogrammes et sont situés à env. 22 mètres au-dessus du quai. Avec sa capacité de levage maximale allant jusqu'à 30 000 kg et une portée maximale de 36,6 mètres, il gère la tâche sans effort, notamment avec la télécommande radio. Le système d'assistance pratique P-Fold facilite également le démontage et le pliage de la grue pour l'opérateur. Pour le grutier Vahur, il s'agit de la première grue PALFINGER de sa carrière professionnelle et « jusqu'à présent, chaque opération m'a complètement convaincu de cette grue, quelle que soit la complexité des circonstances à première vue », dit-il avec un sourire. Lors de chacune des deux missions, deux des quatre radeaux de sauvetage ont été déchargés du navire et transportés à l'atelier du client dans un délai très court. « À aucun moment cette mission n'a été un défi pour moi en tant que grutier. J'ai pu faire fonctionner la grue confortablement par télécommande radio, manœuvrer la charge facilement et terminer la mission le plus rapidement possible. Tout ce que je peux dire, c'est : mission accomplie », se réjouit Vahur, Sintravella.
Et les passagers du ferry entre Helsinki et Tallinn peuvent profiter du voyage à bord du Megastar en toute tranquillité d'esprit pendant les douze prochains mois. En effet, en cas d'urgence, leur sécurité est assurée.

In order to ensure every situation is covered, ferries such as the Megastar from Estonia are equipped with life rafts. Making sure that they function reliably in an emergency means they need to be checked every year. With a weight of up to half a ton, a loading height of 22 meters and a time frame of just one hour, this is no easy task. Unless the PALFINGER PK 135.002 TEC 7 is parked on the quay to lift them off the ship.
Six times a day, the Megastar ferry carries up to 2,800 passengers and 150 cars between the Estonian capital Tallinn and the Finnish metropolis of Helsinki. The two-hour ferry connection is one of the busiest in the Baltic Sea. Because they are boarded and disembarked several times a day, ferries such as the Megastar are exposed to higher risks, which is why particular attention is paid to safety. That includes the annual maintenance and inspection of life rafts, for example. This is where the PALFINGER PK 135.002 TEC 7 comes into play.
Safety at sea
In order to be able to put the life rafts through their paces, they need to be lifted off the ship and examined in the workshop within a time frame of just one hour due to the tight ferry schedule. That is why the Estonian transport company “Sintravella” was given the job of transporting the Megastar's four life rafts from the port of Tallinn to the service workshop. Which raises the question of how the life rafts can be handled easily, quickly and safely. The answer is clear and is already in action at the quay: it is the PK 135.002 TEC 7. The first of its kind in Estonia.
The perfect tool for the job
The PK 135.002 TEC 7 H with fly jib PJ150 E easily handles the life rafts, which weigh around 500 kilograms and are located approx. 22 meters above the quayside. With its maximum lifting capacity of up to 30,000 kg and a maximum reach of 36.6 meters, it manages the task effortlessly, especially with the radio remote control. The convenient P-Fold assistance system also makes disassembling and folding the crane very easy for the operator. For crane operator Vahur, it is the first PALFINGER crane in his professional career and “every operation so far has completely convinced me of this crane, no matter how complicated the circumstances were at first glance,” he says with a grin. On each of the two missions, two of the four life rafts were unloaded from the ship and transported to the customer’s workshop in a very short time. “At no point was this mission a challenge for me as a crane operator. I was able to operate the crane conveniently by radio remote control, maneuver the load easily and complete the mission as quickly as possible. All I can say is: mission accomplished,” says Vahur, Sintravella, delighted.
And ferry passengers between Helsinki and Tallinn can enjoy the trip aboard the Megastar with peace of mind for the next twelve months. That is because in the event of an emergency, their safety is ensured.

Daarom kreeg het Estse transportbedrijf “Sintravella” de opdracht om de vier reddingsvlotten van de Megastar vanuit de haven van Tallinn naar de servicewerkplaats te vervoeren. Dat roept de vraag op hoe de reddingsvlotten gemakkelijk, snel en veilig kunnen worden gehanteerd. Het antwoord is duidelijk en staat al aan de kade: het is de PK 135.002 TEC 7. De eerste in zijn soort in Estland.

Met zijn maximale hefvermogen tot 30.000 kg en een maximale reikwijdte van 36,6 meter voert hij deze taak moeiteloos uit, vooral met de radiografische afstandsbediening. Het handige P-Fold assistentiesysteem maakt het demonteren en inklappen van de kraan ook zeer eenvoudig voor de machinist. Voor kraanmachinist Vahur is het de eerste PALFINGER-kraan in zijn professionele carrière en "elke operatie tot nu toe heeft me volledig overtuigd van deze kraan, hoe ingewikkeld de omstandigheden op het eerste gezicht ook waren", zegt hij met een grijns. Bij elk van de twee missies werden in zeer korte tijd twee van de vier reddingsvlotten van het schip gelost en naar de werkplaats van de klant vervoerd. “Deze missie was geen moment een uitdaging voor mij als kraanmachinist. Ik kon de kraan gemakkelijk bedienen met een radiografische afstandsbediening, de lading gemakkelijk manoeuvreren en de missie zo snel mogelijk voltooien. Alles wat ik kan zeggen is: missie volbracht”, zegt Vahur, Sintravella, opgetogen.
En ferrypassagiers tussen Helsinki en Tallinn kunnen de komende twaalf maanden met een gerust hart genieten van de reis aan boord van de Megastar. Want in geval van nood is hun veiligheid gewaarborgd.
