La PC9000 est la plus grande excavatrice minière hydraulique de Komatsu.
En mai dernier, Komatsu Allemagne, division minière (KGM) et SMS Equipment, société canadienne, ont annoncé conjointement la sortie de la Komatsu PC9000, la plus grande excavatrice minière hydraulique de la gamme du fabricant.
La première machine de ce type arrive maintenant au Canada, quittant KGM à Düsseldorf, en Allemagne, en janvier, en direction de la région des sables bitumineux de l'Alberta.
L'excavatrice de 900 tonnes a commencé son voyage autour du monde sur une seule barge avant d'être acheminée par un navire transatlantique. La dernière étape de cet immense défi logistique consistera à charger les composants sur des camions après l'arrivée de la PC9000 sur les côtes canadiennes.
La cargaison comprend huit conteneurs, 11 composants non emballés, six caisses et 14 patins. Les chenilles de la PC9000 pèsent à elles seules 131 tonnes, chaque patin pesant autant qu'une voiture. Le godet pèse presque autant qu'une baleine bleue.
« Le PC9000 marque une évolution révolutionnaire dans notre gamme d'équipements d'exploitation minière à ciel ouvert. Il offre une productivité accrue, une efficacité accrue, des coûts de production réduits et un confort d'utilisation accru », a déclaré Peter Buhles, vice-président des ventes et du service après-vente chez KGM.
« Chez Komatsu, nous nous engageons à créer de la valeur ensemble grâce à la collaboration. Grâce à un partenariat solide avec SMS Equipment, le PC9000 est conçu pour transformer les opérations minières modernes de nos clients à l'échelle mondiale.»
Pour développer le PC9000, Komatsu a recueilli les avis de ses clients et distributeurs miniers du monde entier afin de créer une machine répondant aux nouveaux besoins du secteur et adaptée à tout type d'application d'exploitation minière à ciel ouvert.
Le PC9000 est conçu pour accroître la productivité, les performances et l'efficacité sur le site minier. Il est optimisé pour fonctionner avec les tombereaux miniers Komatsu des modèles 830E à 980E, améliorant ainsi les temps de cycle et réduisant le coût global par tonne de matériau déplacé.
« La PC9000 est le fruit d'une solide collaboration entre SMS Equipment, la division minière de Komatsu Allemagne et notre client commun », a déclaré Dennis Chmielewski, vice-président exécutif, Exploitation minière, SMS Equipment.
« Grâce à une communication continue entre les trois parties, nous avons veillé à ce que les besoins des opérateurs sur le terrain soient bien transmis au fabricant lors du développement de cette nouvelle catégorie d'excavatrices. Si la PC9000 sera largement utilisée à l'échelle mondiale, elle est particulièrement adaptée à la région des sables bitumineux du Canada, où elle aura un impact majeur sur l'efficacité et la productivité.»
La PC9000 offre également des caractéristiques supplémentaires, notamment un godet plus grand, des forces d'excavation plus élevées et d'autres caractéristiques améliorant le temps de cycle. La PC9000 est également dotée d'une cabine repensée pour un confort accru de l'opérateur.
Sa portée étendue est destinée à soutenir la croissance des systèmes de transport autonomes (AHS) de nos clients, tandis qu'un système hydraulique repensé permet de réduire les émissions.
Forte de plus d'un siècle d'expertise en technologie minière, KGM est un pionnier dans le développement d'excavatrices minières hydrauliques pour le marché mondial de l'exploitation minière à ciel ouvert, définissant les normes mondiales pour les excavatrices minières hydrauliques de très grande taille.

The PC9000 is Komatsu’s largest hydraulic mining excavator
Last May, Komatsu Germany Mining Division (KGM) and Canada’s SMS Equipment jointly announced the Komatsu PC9000, the largest hydraulic mining excavator to be released in the manufacturer’s portfolio.
Now, the first machine of its kind heads to Canada, leaving KGM in Düsseldorf, Germany, in January enroute to Alberta’s oil sands region.
The 900-ton excavator started its journey across the world on a single barge before moving to a cross-Atlantic ship. The final leg of the massive logistics challenge will see the components loaded onto trucks after the PC9000 reaches the Canadian shore.
The shipment includes eight containers, 11 unpacked components, six cases and 14 skids. The PC9000’s tracks weigh 131 tons alone, with each trackpad weighing as much as a car. The bucket weighs nearly the same as a blue whale.
“The PC9000 marks a groundbreaking evolution in our surface mining lineup, delivering higher productivity, greater efficiency, lower production costs while enhancing operator comfort,” said Peter Buhles, Vice President Sales and Service at KGM.

In developing the PC9000, Komatsu gathered input from its global mining customers and distributors to create a machine that responds to the industry’s emerging needs and is suitable for any type of surface mining application.
The PC9000 is designed to increase productivity, performance and efficiency on the mine site. It is optimized to work with Komatsu’s 830E through 980E mining trucks, improving cycle times and lowering the overall cost-per-ton of material moved.
“The PC9000 was sparked by the powerful collaboration between SMS Equipment, Komatsu Germany Mining Division and our shared customer,” said Dennis Chmielewski, Executive Vice President, Mining, SMS Equipment.
“Through ongoing communication between all three parties, we ensured operators’ needs in the field were conveyed back to the manufacturer as they developed this new class of excavator. While the PC9000 will have broad global application, it’s very well suited to Canada’s oil sands region, where it will have a major impact on efficiency and productivity.”
Additional features of the PC9000 include a larger bucket, higher digging forces and other features to improve cycle time. The PC9000 also includes a redesigned cab to enhance operator comfort.
Its extended reach is aimed at supporting customers’ growing Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) while a redesigned hydraulic system leads to lower emissions.
With more than a century of expertise in mining technology, KGM is a pioneer in the development of hydraulic mining excavators for the global surface mining market, defining standards for ultra-large hydraulic mining excavators worldwide.
Since the early 1980s, KGM has been a trusted partner and manufacturer of machine technology for Canada’s oil sands. Ever since, many machine models have been inaugurated with Canada’s oil sands producers.

De PC9000 is Komatsu's grootste hydraulische mijnbouwgraafmachine
Afgelopen mei kondigden Komatsu Germany Mining Division (KGM) en het Canadese SMS Equipment gezamenlijk de Komatsu PC9000 aan, de grootste hydraulische mijnbouwgraafmachine die de fabrikant ooit heeft uitgebracht.
De eerste machine in zijn soort vertrekt nu naar Canada en verlaat KGM in januari in Düsseldorf, Duitsland, op weg naar de teerzandregio van Alberta.
De graafmachine van 900 ton begon zijn wereldreis op een binnenschip en werd vervolgens overgeplaatst naar een trans-Atlantische boot. Het laatste deel van de enorme logistieke uitdaging bestaat uit het laden van de componenten op vrachtwagens nadat de PC9000 de Canadese kust heeft bereikt.
De zending bestaat uit acht containers, elf onverpakte componenten, zes kisten en veertien skids. De rupsbanden van de PC9000 wegen alleen al 131 ton, waarbij elk rupsvlak evenveel weegt als een auto. De bak weegt bijna net zoveel als een blauwe vinvis.

Bij de ontwikkeling van de PC9000 heeft Komatsu input verzameld van zijn wereldwijde mijnbouwklanten en distributeurs om een machine te creëren die inspeelt op de opkomende behoeften van de industrie en geschikt is voor elk type dagbouwtoepassing.
De PC9000 is ontworpen om de productiviteit, prestaties en efficiëntie op de mijnlocatie te verhogen. Hij is geoptimaliseerd voor gebruik met Komatsu's 830E tot en met 980E mijnbouwtrucks, waardoor de cyclustijden worden verbeterd en de totale kosten per ton verplaatst materiaal worden verlaagd.
"De PC9000 is ontstaan door de krachtige samenwerking tussen SMS Equipment, de Duitse mijnbouwdivisie van Komatsu en onze gezamenlijke klant", aldus Dennis Chmielewski, Executive Vice President Mining bij SMS Equipment.

Extra functies van de PC9000 zijn onder andere een grotere bak, hogere graafkrachten en andere functies die de cyclustijd verbeteren. De PC9000 beschikt ook over een nieuw ontworpen cabine voor meer comfort voor de machinist.
Het grotere bereik is gericht op de ondersteuning van de groeiende autonome transportsystemen (AHS) van klanten, terwijl een nieuw ontworpen hydraulisch systeem zorgt voor lagere emissies.
Met meer dan een eeuw expertise in mijnbouwtechnologie is KGM een pionier in de ontwikkeling van hydraulische mijnbouwgraafmachines voor de wereldwijde markt voor dagbouw en definieert het wereldwijd de normen voor ultragrote hydraulische mijnbouwgraafmachines.
