FPT Industrial fait de la durabilité globale de tous ses produits et processus un élément fondamental de tous ses projets et activités. Mais cette fois, la marque du Groupe Iveco dédiée à la conception, à la production et à la vente de groupes motopropulseurs à faible impact environnemental a voulu faire encore plus. Et elle l'a fait avec style, en profitant de sa présence en tant qu'exposant à Agritechnica 2023 pour démontrer qu'il est possible de participer à un salon international tout en restant neutre en CO2.

En effet, la marque a non seulement présenté certaines des solutions les plus innovantes appliquées au moteur à combustion interne (Diesel, biométhane et hydrogène) et à l'électrification à Hanovre, mais elle a choisi de le faire depuis un stand dont l'impact environnemental a été totalement compensé. Grâce à une étude réalisée en partenariat avec l’Université Polytechnique de Milan, le périmètre du système a été défini, c’est-à-dire l’enchaînement exact des phases de réalisation du stand. Après avoir défini le périmètre, les différentes phases ont été isolées – par exemple la fourniture du matériel, l'aménagement du stand, le transport des personnes et des objets, la consommation d'énergie pendant le déroulement de l'événement, le démontage et la fin de vie – et une estimation de l’empreinte carbone relative a été réalisée.

Lors de la conception du stand, un accent particulier a été mis sur l'optimisation des matériaux, dans le but de pouvoir ensuite les réutiliser ou les recycler afin de créer le moins d'impact possible sur l'environnement. Le stand a été créé à l'aide de structures modulaires qui réduisent les temps de fabrication, de montage et de démontage, et ont été fabriqués et assemblés à l'aide de machines électriques ou à faibles émissions, avec un accent particulier sur la réduction des déchets et des déchets de fabrication.

Une fois fabriqués et protégés avec un emballage 100% réutilisable et recyclable, les composants du stand FPT Industrial pour Agritechnica 2023 ont quitté les locaux de Tecnolegno Allestimenti à Cormano (Milan) en direction de Hanovre à bord d'une flotte de camions IVECO S-Way au gaz naturel propulsés par Moteurs FPT Industrial Cursor 13 NG, alimentés au bioGNL fourni par Shell. Les mêmes véhicules fonctionnant avec le même carburant ont été utilisés pour l’intégralité des trajets aller-retour, afin de maximiser l’engagement de « neutralité carbone » de l’ensemble du processus. L'analyse finale de l'initiative a mis en évidence une diminution de 87,5% des émissions nettes de CO2 pour le transport, qui représente le plus grand contributeur d'émissions de dioxyde de carbone, et une réduction de 60% pour celles liées à l'ensemble du processus d'exposition à Agritechnica 2019. Après l'événement, un décompte final a été effectué et les émissions résiduelles seront compensées par l'achat de crédits carbone certifiés.

« Aujourd'hui, pour être accrédités comme durables, nous devons avant tout être crédibles », a déclaré Egle Panzella, responsable du développement durable chez FPT Industrial, « et avec cette initiative qui a atténué tous les facteurs d'empreinte carbone de notre stand, qui est si fortement axé sur la durabilité, je crois que nous avons réussi non seulement à démontrer notre crédibilité, mais aussi à créer un précédent vertueux. Pour ceux qui, comme nous, fabriquent et vendent de la mobilité durable, un stand neutre en carbone doit désormais devenir la règle plutôt que l’exception.

FPT Industrial makes all-round sustainability of all its products and processes a fundamental part of all its projects and activities. This time, however, the Iveco Group brand dedicated to the design, production and sale of low-environmental impact powertrains wanted to do even more. And it did it in style, making use of its presence as an exhibitor at Agritechnica 2023 to demonstrate that participating in an international trade fair while remaining CO2-neutral is possible.

The brand indeed not only showed off some of the most innovative solutions applied to Internal Combustion Engine (Diesel, Biomethane and Hydrogen) and to Electrification in Hanover, but it chose to do so from a stand whose environmental impact had been completely offset. Thanks to a study carried out in partnership with Polytechnic University of Milan, the system perimeter was defined, in other words the exact sequence of phases of the stand’s creation. Having defined the perimeter, the individual phases were isolated – for example the supply of materials, the fitting out of the stand, the transport of people and objects, the energy consumption during the course of the event, disassembly and end-of-life – and an estimate of the relative carbon footprint was made.

When designing the stand, a particular focus was placed on optimizing the materials, with the goal of being able to subsequently reuse or recycle them in order to create the least possible environmental impact. The stand was created using modular structures which reduce the manufacturing, set-up and disassembly times, and were manufactured and assembled using electric or low-emission machines, with a particular focus on minimizing manufacturing waste and refuse.

Once manufactured and protected with 100% reusable and recyclable packaging, the components of the FPT Industrial stand for Agritechnica 2023 left the premises of Tecnolegno Allestimenti in Cormano (Milan) heading for Hanover on board a fleet of IVECO S-Way Natural Gas trucks powered by FPT Industrial Cursor 13 NG engines, fueled with bioLNG supplied by Shell. The same vehicles running on the same fuel were used for the entirety of the journeys there and back, to maximize the commitment to “carbon neutrality” of the entire process. The final analysis for the initiative evidenced a 87.5% decrease in net CO2 emissions for the transport, which represents the greatest contributor of carbon dioxide emissions, and a 60% reduction for those relating to the entire process of exhibiting at Agritechnica 2019. At the end of the event a final tally had been conducted and the residual emissions will be offset through the purchase of certified carbon credits.

“Today, in order to be accredited as sustainable, we have to be above all credible,” stated Egle Panzella, Head of Sustainability for FPT Industrial, “and with this initiative that mitigated all the carbon footprint factors of our stand, which is so strongly focused on sustainability, I believe that we have managed not only to demonstrate our credibility, but also set a virtuous precedent. For those who, like us, manufacture and sell sustainable mobility, a carbon-neutral stand must now become the rule rather than the exception.”

FPT Industrial maakt de algehele duurzaamheid van al haar producten en processen tot een fundamenteel onderdeel van al haar projecten en activiteiten. Deze keer wilde het merk Iveco Group dat zich toelegt op het ontwerp, de productie en de verkoop van aandrijflijnen met een lage impact op het milieu, nog meer doen. En dat deed het bedrijf in stijl, waarbij het zijn aanwezigheid als exposant op Agritechnica 2023 gebruikte om te laten zien dat deelname aan een internationale vakbeurs en CO2-neutraal blijven mogelijk is.

Het merk toonde inderdaad niet alleen enkele van de meest innovatieve oplossingen die werden toegepast op verbrandingsmotoren (diesel, biomethaan en waterstof) en op elektrificatie in Hannover, maar koos ervoor om dit te doen vanuit een stand waarvan de impact op het milieu volledig was gecompenseerd. Dankzij een studie uitgevoerd in samenwerking met de Polytechnische Universiteit van Milaan werd de systeemperimeter gedefinieerd, met andere woorden de exacte opeenvolging van fasen van de creatie van de stand. Nadat de perimeter was gedefinieerd, werden de afzonderlijke fasen geïsoleerd – bijvoorbeeld de aanvoer van materialen, de inrichting van de stand, het transport van mensen en voorwerpen, het energieverbruik tijdens het evenement, demontage en het einde van de levensduur – en er werd een schatting gemaakt van de relatieve CO2-voetafdruk.

Bij het ontwerp van de stand werd bijzondere aandacht besteed aan het optimaliseren van de materialen, met als doel deze vervolgens te kunnen hergebruiken of recyclen om zo een zo laag mogelijke impact op het milieu te creëren. De stand werd gecreëerd met behulp van modulaire structuren die de productie-, op- en demontagetijden verkorten, en werd vervaardigd en gemonteerd met behulp van elektrische of emissiearme machines, met bijzondere aandacht voor het minimaliseren van productieafval en -afval.

Eenmaal vervaardigd en beschermd met 100% herbruikbare en recycleerbare verpakkingen, verlieten de componenten van de FPT Industrial-stand voor Agritechnica 2023 het terrein van Tecnolegno Allestimenti in Cormano (Milaan) op weg naar Hannover aan boord van een vloot IVECO S-Way Natural Gas-vrachtwagens aangedreven door FPT Industrial Cursor 13 NG-motoren, aangedreven door bioLNG geleverd door Shell. Voor de hele reis heen en terug werden dezelfde voertuigen op dezelfde brandstof gebruikt, om de inzet voor “koolstofneutraliteit” van het hele proces te maximaliseren. De uiteindelijke analyse voor het initiatief toonde een afname van 87,5% aan van de netto CO2-uitstoot voor het transport, dat de grootste bijdrage levert aan de CO2-uitstoot, en een reductie van 60% voor de uitstoot die betrekking heeft op het hele proces van exposeren op Agritechnica 2019. Aan het einde van het evenement was er een definitieve telling uitgevoerd en de resterende uitstoot zal worden gecompenseerd door de aankoop van gecertificeerde koolstofkredieten.

“Om vandaag de dag als duurzaam erkend te worden, moeten we bovenal geloofwaardig zijn”, aldus Egle Panzella, hoofd Duurzaamheid bij FPT Industrial, “en met dit initiatief dat alle factoren van de CO2-voetafdruk van onze stand verkleint, wat zo belangrijk is sterk gericht op duurzaamheid, geloof ik dat we er niet alleen in zijn geslaagd onze geloofwaardigheid te demonstreren, maar ook een deugdzaam precedent te scheppen. Voor degenen die, net als wij, duurzame mobiliteit produceren en verkopen, moet een klimaatneutraal standpunt nu eerder regel dan uitzondering worden.”
